Playbook
Live interview after AI screening.
Once Merqent has already handled the first conversation, transcript and work sample, the live interview should become sharper. This playbook keeps you from repeating the same conversation.
Read only the signals that matter
Do not restart with CV questions. Focus on score differences, risks and areas where the AI did not find enough evidence.
Validate the strongest evidence
Ask the candidate to unpack one concrete example from the AI interview. Look for consistency and ownership.
Test the open risks
Use live time for uncertainty: stakeholder pressure, technical depth, prioritization or commercial context.
Close with expectations
Explain the next step, who will review and when the candidate will hear back.
Questions that are still worth asking
In your screening you mentioned a concrete example. Which decision mattered most in hindsight?
What would you have done differently if time, budget or team capacity had been tighter?
Who did you need to convince and how did you know your approach was working?
Where would you need the most guidance or context in this role?
Do not do this
Do not start with a generic CV recap and do not use the live interview to blindly confirm the AI score. Look for evidence that makes the score stronger, weaker or more nuanced.
